La Gloria, led by renowned Chef Johnny Hernandez, is a San Antonio staple known for bringing the vibrant flavors of Mexican street food to the Pearl Brewery. The goal was to translate this rich, physical dining experience into a high-performance mobile app that could handle logistics, simplify ordering, and expand the brand into new digital markets.
The Problem:
Transitioning from a traditional "cantina" atmosphere to a digital-first delivery model requires more than just a menu. The app needed to manage high volumes of traffic, provide real-time delivery tracking, and offer a login and checkout process fast enough for users accustomed to the "speed and safety" of modern food delivery.
The Solution:
I designed an end-to-end mobile product centered on speed, transparency, and brand consistency. My process involved:
Deep User Research: My findings showed that 65% of the target audience ordered food online in 2021, prioritizing safety and speed. This led to the implementation of "Quick Sign-In" options (Apple, Facebook, and Phone).
Iterative Prototyping: I moved from rapid paper wireframing to an 80-screen digital prototype. I mapped complex user journeys including smart search, price sorting, and live order tracking to ensure the experience remained "street food simple" but technologically robust.
Scalable Design System: I developed a lightweight, maintainable design system to ensure long-term stability across all 80 screens, allowing for faster updates and a bug-free experience for the kitchen and the customer.
The Results
High-Fidelity Delivery: A polished, 80-screen interface that bridges the gap between Chef Johnny’s culinary art and a seamless digital transaction.
Operational Efficiency: Simplified the ordering process for multiple restaurant locations, directly contributing to increased sales and streamlined kitchen handling.
User Trust: Integrated real-time tracking and easy navigation that makes the transition from "vibrant cantina" to "home delivery" feel natural and reliable.
